Queenscliff’s crumbling pier is set for a $1.5 million restoration.
Borough of Queenscliffe councillor Stephen Lee said an engineering report would be prepared after June to guide the $1.5 million project.
“We’ve received a letter from Parks Victoria outlining an excellent program of works for the bridge over the next two years,” he said.
“The first step will be to obtain the engineering report, which will happen in the next financial year.”
A council report said $200,000 of the $1.5 million allocated in the state budget would be available in the next financial year, with $60,000 for a coastal study of the area and the remainder to be spent on an underwater survey.
The remaining $1.3 million would be available in 2008/2009 for work including reconstruction of the inner section of the historic pier.
“The borough and other key stakeholders are to be consulted on the design of the refurbished pier,” the report said.
