Police seek help over deadly cow

POLICE have appealed for witnesses to the death of a man after a cow ran him down on Vines Rd, Hamlyn Heights, on 9 November.
The cow had escaped a saleyard in Weddell Rd before causing several traffic incidents along nearby streets.
The 72-year-old Highton man attempted to catch the beast before it knocked him to the ground and he lost consciousness.
He was transported to hospital but died on 19 November as a result of his injuries.
Two passengers on a bus forced to brake suddenly to avoid the cow were also treated for minor injuries.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said investigators would like to speak to a female nurse who assisted the man at the scene and a young girl who also tried to help catch the cow at the time of the incident.
The spokesperson said anyone with any information could phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at crimestoppersvic.com.au.
