‘Vigilante’ head runs afoul of the law

By Luke Voogt

A man who led ‘citizen’s patrols’ in Geelong’s northern suburbs faced court Thursday after police arrested him behind the wheel of an allegedly stolen car.
Nick Cross led a controversial crime-fighting group in late 2016 to combat rising burglary and car theft.
Police arrested the 30-year-old at Ibis Court in an allegedly stolen Holden Captiva, about 1am on Thursday.
A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court last week.
He faced Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Thursday on several charges including multiple counts of assault and breaching an interim intervention order.
A magistrate remanded him to appear in Geelong Magistrates’ Court again today.
