Keith goes loco carving out a hobby

Keith Hogan has carved out a new hobby since joining Barwon Valley Woodwrights earlier this year.
And with the help and support of other members, he’s produced a 1/21 scale model of a 1910 locomotive after six months of intricate work.
Keith’s two-metre creation will be among numerous other wooden wonders at Barwon Valley Woodwrights’ annual exhibition this weekend.
Members’ handiwork will be on display and sale alongside live demonstrations of skills such as wood turning, scroll-sawing, pyrography and other crafts.
“Of particular interest for the ladies will be demonstrations by the Spinners and Weavers Guild, lace-makers and intricate bead works,” said the organisers.
“There will be toy assembly activities for children, with assistance provided by members.
“The exhibition highlights many unique talents of members, through their finely handcrafted wooden items.”
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday at Geelong Masonic Centre, 25 – 27 Regent Street, Belmont, with refreshments available.
Entry is $5 for adults and free for children.
