Peter’s footy song number one with epilepsy body

By NOEL MURPHY

AUSSIE Rules football, great sporting institution and cultural bedrock of a nation, occupies a special place in the heart of Corio singer-songwriter Peter Perez.
Such is his regard for the old leather and liniment he’s penned and recorded a song and accompanying video, Aussie Football, Bring It On, which captures the essence of the great game while tugging at patriotic heartstrings.
Mr Perez said he spent six years getting the song out, with the help of many, including South Barwon footy legend Mark Enright who shares vocal/narrative duties.
The Epilepsy Foundation said it was delighted to be part-recipient of proceeds of the song.
The tune’s even been granted a seal of approval by controversial Collingwood cheer squad figure Joffa Corfe.
Video footage with the song features kids kicking a ball about in the dusty Northern Territory, local and country footy, women’s football, troops playing in Vietnam and Iraq and more.
The lyrics include:
‘It’s been played through generations,
It’s been seen by many crowds,
Aussie Rules is very special,
It’s Australian and we’re proud…’
The song and video are available at aussie.football.net.au.
