ABORIGINAL artefacts have temporarily prevented work on a controversial footpaths project at Jan Juc, Surf Coast Shire has revealed.
A shire statement said work on the project’s “final elements” would begin after Aboriginal authorities had signed off on a cultural heritage management plan, to be prepared “as a result” of the artefacts.
The shire battled to impose a charge scheme for the project amid ratepayer objections.
