A series of near-misses has sparked calls for a pedestrian crossing on the Bellarine Rail Trail at Drysdale, according to residents.
Residents and horse riders believe the trail’s crossover on High Street needs flashing lights to prevent accidents. High Street’s Kylie Berry said hundreds of trail users crossed the busy street every weekend, narrowly avoiding traffic.
“I’m just waiting for someone to be killed,” Ms Berry said.
Drysdale Leopold Pony Club district commissioner Fiona Conroy said the crossover was a problem for riders.
“A lot of pony club members use the trail and try to cross into our grounds,” Ms Conroy said.
