Geelong art by night

More than 60 artists or groups will transform central Geelong “in a night of discovery” next week, City Hall has announced.
Geelong After Dark, from 6pm to 10pm on 6 May, would present “an exciting mix of unique and surprising free performances, installations and arts experiences,” the City said.
“This year central Geelong will be divided into four zones where the activity will take place: Cultural Precinct, Lt Malop Street, Moorabool Street and Waterfront Precinct.
“Throughout the evening, people will have the choice to just rock up, plan an evening using the program guide or choose one of five curated experiences now available on the Geelong After Dark website.”
The City said patrons could schedule the evening to satisfy individual “whims and interests”, such as music and theatre, multimedia and visual arts, “interactivity” or “family friendly” activities.
Other drawcards included a Kids Treasure Hunt with “major prizes” for children who collected maps from the city’s Focus Five Building, on the corner of Lt Malop and Gheringhap streets.
City investment and attraction general manager Brett Luxford promised “edgy arts experiences, placed in some of the most unusual places”.
“Now in its third year, this free multi-award winning event will be Geelong’s biggest pop up night of arts yet, with over 200 artists involved. Get ready to be surprised.”
The full program is available at geelongafterdark.com.au.
