Golfers and event sponsors have raised about $14,000 for patients and residents to enjoy the great outdoors at the region’s biggest aged care and rehabilitation facility.
The 14th annual McKellar Centre Charity Golf Day attracted a field of 76 players in 19 teams for an Ambrose competition at 13th Beach golf course last Friday.
The golf day has now raised around $340,000 for the North Geelong centre, which services hundreds of aged care residents and rehabilitation patients.
The proceeds from this year’s event will go toward a Town Square project at McKellar Centre.
The square will feature an ampitheatre, a barbecue area and landscaping for residents and patients to enjoy outdoor events and activities with family and friends.
McKellar Centre’s Kerry O’Sullivan said he was thrilled with this year’s fundraising result.
“The sponsors and competitors deserve credit for their outstanding generosity given the global financial crisis and other fundraising causes such as the bushfire appeal,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“In particular, the McKellar Centre would like to thank major sponsors the Independent and WelshKline Financial Group for their support.
“It was another great golf day for all involved and we look forward to another successful event nextyear.”
