Creek bid to Guy

CHRISTIAN College has re-lodged its controversial bid to build a campus at Torquay’s Spring Creek.
Surf Coast councillors voted this week to send the college’s planning application to Planning Minister Mathew Guy for approval to go on public display.
The rezoning bid follows a planning panel finding in October that the project could go ahead under existing rural zonings.
Christian College wants a rezoning from farming to special use for its proposed P-9 school and associated kindergarten on a 15.6-hectare site at 248 Great Ocean Road.
A report to this week’s council meeting suggested the campus would be “appropriately located”.
“The Christian College campus will be well-positioned to support the current and future residential growth of the Torquay-Jan Juc settlement,” the report said.
The stand-alone development” was “appropriately designed and sited within a rural landscape setting”, the report said.
