MASTERCHEF judge Matt Preston will star at this year’s Lara Food and Wine Festival.
The flamboyant, cravat-wearing celebrity will cast his verdict on competitors in the festival’s Ultimate Chef Challenge, pitting the cream of local chefs against each other in a 15-minute cooking showdown.
Mr Preston was looking forward to the challenge.
“We are guaranteed the competition will be fierce,” he said.
“I expect the competing chefs to create inspired dishes made with fresh local produce.”
Organisers said Mr Preston would also be on stage with renowned restauranteur and cooking author Rosa Mitchell as she demonstrated her Italian food skills.
Organising committee member Andrew Burgess said more than 80 exhibitors would attend the fourth annual festival to showcase some of the region’s finest food and wine.
Live music and children’s activities would also feature, Mr Burgess said.
“Many people bring along a picnic blanket, gather delicious goodies from the exhibitors and enjoy a leisurely lunch on the lawns. It’s a wonderful way to spend a Sunday,”
The festival will be at Lara’s Pirra homestead on March 25. Entry will cost a gold coin, with parking free.
