Today shows off the best of Queenscliff

Jessica Benton
QUEENSCLIFF was on show this week when Channel Nine’s Today breakfast program visited the Bellarine Peninsula town.
The Today team descended on Queenscliff early Wednesday morning, filming a live weather segment from local restaurant, Apostle.
Weatherman Steve Jacobs was on location to broadcast the segment, choosing two local children to present the live weather update at 8.30am.
Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor Pat Semmens said it was an honour to have a live broadcast from Queenscliff.
“I think Today chose Queenscliff to film because of our beautiful heritage buildings and coastal location, and now thanks to this national broadcast the rest of Australia will also see what a wonderful place Queenscliff is,” she said.
“To give our local children the opportunity to participate in the show is a wonderful experience that doesn’t present itself very often.”
Producer Gerry Campbell said the Today team hit the road and toured a number of Victorian towns this week, including Geelong, Rye and Narre Warren.
He said some of Victoria’s “best” attractions were chosen for the annual tour.
“We had a look and chose the best locations,” Mr Campbell said.
“Queenscliff is a beautiful little town.
“It’s such a good opportunity for us to get out of the studio. Plus we get to show the rest of Australia all these great places.”
The Queenscliff visit was a lead-up to today’s live show at Geelong’s Steampacker Gardens.
