BELLARINE Peninsula ’70s rock band Shed Zeppelin will play the Barwon Club for the first time as part of a tribute supergroup showdown.
Harking back to 1975, the showdown will feature the music of two of the biggest bands in the world.
Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones were pumping out some of the greatest and most influential rock music of a generation.
Shed Zeppelin will headline the Barwon Club show, performing all the classics from the originial band’s catalogue such as Rock and Roll, Black Dog, Kashmir and Whole Lotta Love.
Seasoned Zep fans will revel in faithful renditions of such as Dazed and Confused, Heartbreaker, Achilles Last Stand, the acoustic Going to California and, of course, Stairway to Heaven.
Shed Zeppelin has combined raw organic energy with the musical precision that defined the magic of the live Led Zeppelin experience since its unveiling at Ocean Grove two years ago.
Now with the addition of flamboyant Melbourne front man Andrew Simpson to centre stage, the band has become a full-blown “Zeptacular”.
Gigging regularly in Melbourne, Shed Zeppelin has played big venues like St Kilda’s iconic Gershwin Room and TRAK Live to rave reviews.
Bass player John Paul Jonestown said the band was looking forward to playing the Barwon Club.
“Even though most of us live on the coast it’ll be our first time playing in Geelong and we can’t wait to rock out with our mates from Exile at the Barwon Club.
“They really do put on a rocking set of great Stones classics. We’ve been doing shows with the Exile in Melbourne and the two acts really complement each other.
“For a few hours you can come along and party like its 1975.”
Melbourne’s Exile has been performing their Rolling Stones Tribute Show for the past year.
Exile will belt out classic Stones tunes like Midnight Rambler, Gimme Shelter, Brown Sugar and Sympathy for the Devil.
The show at the Barwon Club kicks off at 8pm this Saturday 6.
