Bellarine Peninsula mums and their bubs will have more to giggle about when a new parental support group kicks off next week.
Drysdale resident Kellie Tobin has been busy drumming up interest in a new program to boost the amount of children benefiting from early childhood education on the peninsula.
Ms Tobin said the new group, called Giggles – Bellarine Mum’s and Bub’s Well-Being Group, would offer a unique approach to playgroup with playtime, information sessions and support for parents and children.
“Through Giggles we hope to give local mums and children the opportunity to connect with other families and provide educational and fun experiences,” she said.
“Guest speakers will be invited to discuss and focus on personal wellbeing centred on mother and child.”
Ms Tobin said statistics had revealed that only 44.2 per cent of Drysdale children had experienced early childhood education.
Portarlington had the peninsula’s lowest pre-school participation at 27.6 per cent.
“Giggles’ aim is to strengthen communities throughout Drysdale and the wider Bellarine community by giving children aged up to four the opportunity to meet on a weekly basis in a supportive, friendly environment,” Ms Tobin said.
The group meets 10am Wednesday at St James Anglican Church Hall, in Collins Street, Drysdale.
