Geelong expects captain Joel Selwood to be a Cat for life after signing a two year contract extension to the end of 2019.
The 27-year old is the latest in a long line of players to commit to the club for the long term.
Selected in the 2006 national draft and a 204 game veteran, Selwood has captained the side for the last four seasons.
Selwood is a triple premiership player, three-time Carji Greeves medallist and four-time All-Australian.
Football general manager Steve Hocking said Selwood was an outstanding club leader and the ultimate professional.
“We are really pleased to have extended his services over the next four seasons,” Hocking said.
“His list of accolades speaks for itself and his work ethic and determination is admired by his teammates and coaches.
“Both Joel and the club are pleased to get this arrangement agreed so quickly and it seems almost certain now that Joel will spend his entire career with the Cats.
“Joel has enjoyed a great deal of success already in his career, but it’s clear that he is hungry to achieve even more in the coming years.”
However the skipper is in doubt for the first round Easter Monday blockbuster against Hawthorn after virtually ruling himself out of the NAB Challenge.
Selwood has been restricted by plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
