BILLY the Maltese-shih tzu cross is back at home with his family after a harrowing 24 hours lost in Waurn Ponds.
Ebony Hayes and partner Adam Harrison feared they’d never see their “first baby” again after their car was stolen from the Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre, with Billy inside, last Tuesday.
But a phone call from police set their minds at ease after the car – and Billy – were recovered from behind the Waurn Ponds Skate Park.
“We got a phone call when we were out looking for Billy and we were so excited when the police called, I just burst into tears,” Ms Hayes said.
“We were so tired and I was starting to think I’d never see him again. I was in shock.”
Ms Hayes said their two-and-a-half year old pooch was “a little hungry” but unharmed when found.
“He’s back sleeping on the end of our bed now,” she laughed.
“It was a terrible time; Adam had driven to Colac and Werribee and all over Geelong looking for him.
“We are so relieved to have him home.”
Ms Hayes said she wanted to thank friends and family for helping in the search.
The car was also undamaged.
