GEELONG jobseekers were given the opportunity to learn from and mingle with Geelong employers on Wednesday as part of Geelong’s first ever workplace based forum, according to organisers.
Organised by Tracey the Placement People, area manager Jason Butcher said the Employer and Jobseeker Forum attracted around 15 employers and 70 “job-ready candidates”.
“It was a great opportunity for our jobseekers to meet with local industry to discuss any current or upcoming vacancies and give them an insight in what employers look for when recruiting,” he said.
“This gives them the best possible chance to gain employment.”
Mr Butcher said he hoped to run the forum quarterly after 15 jobseekers looked like securing jobs immediately after the forum.
The three hour forum at GPAC included employers such as Faggs Mitre 10, Cotton on Clothing, Tiger Airways, Peppers Resort, Barwon Computer Solutions, Arthur Reed Photography, MEGT, Showerline and Opium Cocktail Bar.
