Public’s trail to artists’ private lairs

SURF Coast artists are preparing to throw open their private studios to the public next month.
The artists will welcome visitors to their homes, galleries and other venues as part of Surf Coast Arts Trail from 15 to 16 August.
Spokesperson Cinnamon Stephens said the weekend event would be a chance to meet established and emerging local arts “talent”.
Forty-four venues would host displays, stretching from Connewarre to Lorne and Winchelsea, she said.
“Our rich and diverse talent include jewellery making, ceramics, paintings, sculptures, printmaking, illustrations, graphic designs and animation. Artworks are for sale, so be sure to grab yourself a locally created masterpiece or two.
“Why not bring some friends along and spend the day treasure hunting along the coast at the many venues and look out for a fabulous local cafe, winery or restaurant to make your day complete.”
Ms Stephens said more information was available from Surf Coast Shire information centres, cafes, galleries, art suppliers and on the arts trails’ Facebook page.
