Almost 1.3km of new footpaths will link residents with community facilities around Leopold, according to their ward councillor.
Rod Macdonald said the latest stage in the town’s “strategic footpath network program” would connect Leopold Shopping Centre with Bellarine Rail Trail and residential areas off Melaluka Rd.
Local contractors were building the footpaths “in accordance with standard industry practice”, he said.
City Hall had contributed $407,000 to the $607,000 project, with State Government covering the rest of the cost.
Cr Macdonald said the program was now “nearing completion”.
