Students deliver class acts in GPAC drama program

SECONDARY students will work with professional actors and theatre technicians to produce their own shows in a series of workshops at Geelong Performing Arts Centre’s drama theatre.
GPAC general manager Jill Smith said the Take Over festival would teach students all facets of theatre, including performance, sound, lighting and stage management.
“Involvement in the arts at school and through programs such as Take Over clearly gives students a range of academic, social and personal development benefits,” she said.
Year 9-12 students from Geelong Grammar and Matthew Flinders Girls, Western Heights, Lara, Grovedale and Geelong Lutheran Secondary colleges will take part in the program.
The participating students will develop, produce, rehearse and perform their own piece of theatre based on the theme ‘Ka-Pow!’.
Ms Smith said family, friends and members of the public were invited to attend the performances at 7.30pm on 27 and 28 May.
Bookings are available at GPAC.
