Man flees breath test, crashes into house

A CAR smashed into a house at Norlane last night after a man sped off from a police breath test.

Corio police had intercepted a Holden Commodore on the Princes Highway, Norlane around 10.45pm.

As officers were preparing to perform a preliminary breath test on the male driver, he accelerated and drove away from the scene.

Police lost sight of the vehicle but a short time later discovered the same car had crashed into a weatherboard house on Rose Avenue.

The members attended the scene and arrested the 42-year-old man.

The Batesford man has been charged with speed dangerous, recklessly cause injury, careless driving, dangerous driving, possess cannabis and driving an unregistered vehicle.

He was bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 16 July.

Two Norlane women, aged 90 and 55, were in the lounge room at the time of the crash.

Both women were taken to Geelong Hospital and treated for bruising.
