DOUBLE TAKE: Cops, Cats, live take …

GEELONG police are under investigation – but of a very different kind to their ethical standards department.
Controversial US artist Spy Emerson, pictured, is in town researching the local constabulary for her “Hops on Cops“ project.
Emerson recently drew attention in home state California with her touring Hook-Up Truck, in which she encouraged couples to get, er, intimate. All in art’s name, of course.
Emerson, visiting as part of Geelong’s FIGMENT arts festival, said she planned to “exemplify and dramatise” interactions between locals and police “in the most positive way”.
If Hops on Cops is, as the name could suggest, anything like Hook-Up Truck, “positive” is possibly an understatement.

ITS audience might be listening but does a local radio station return the favour?
The station’s Twitter account yesterday told followers that survey results indicated “you want more LIVE music”.
But the tweet’s next line told them they were about to hear a Silverchair song “from 1999”.
Maybe it was a live recording – from 16 years ago!

CATS fans could be forgiven for a pang of disappointment about Gary Ablett re-signing with the Gold Coast Suns this week.
Many daydreamed of his return, perchance to set up the Cats for an audacious crack at another flag.
But as former teammates including Cameron Ling noted, it was only ever a remote possibility at best.
However, a recent local real estate transaction promises a tantalising consolation.
Apparently an interstate player of some repute bought a house.
Down the coast.
At Moggs Creek.
Double Take will let readers put two and two together.
Or should that be 32 and two?
