Richmond Football Club captain Kane Johnson has joined a list of AFL footballers to snap up units at a $100 million residential development on Torquay’s foreshore.
Johnson has bought a two-storey, three-bedroom penthouse at The Resort, joining other Tiger identities including Nathan Brown, Darren Gaspar, Terry Wallace, Mark Coughlan, Greg Tivendale and retired ruckman Greg Stafford.
Other AFL celebrities to buy units include ex-Hawthorn star Dermot Brereton.
Peter Doran, a spokesperson for developer The Casey Group, said more AFL footballers were “sniffing around The Resort”.
Mr Doran said the involvement of The Casey Group’s Clinton Casey, a former president of Richmond Club, had helped attract AFL players to The Resort.
Prices at The Resort start at $359,000 and reach $1.8 million for penthouse units.
The development is on The Esplanade site of the former Zeally Bay Caravan Park.
