Myki tickets only from today

Geelong rail travellers have entered the myki era today, with the swipe card now the only valid ticket for the region.

Public Transport Victoria customer services director Alan Fedda said customers would need a myki on Geelong V/Line services regardless of their frequency of travel.

However paper tickets will still be used on long distance trains such as the Warrnambool service, V/Line coach services and Family Traveller tickets.

Mr Fedda said V/Line commuter train customers can purchase and top up myki cards from staffed stations, myki machines at stations, local retail outlets, online at ptv.vic.gov.au or calling 1800 800 007.

“V/Line customers have generally purchased their ticket from staff at the station,” he said.

“The introduction of myki means V/Line customers have more ways to purchase a ticket.

“Customers can also top up on buses in centres where myki is operating, or at a retail outlet when out and about doing the shopping.”

A full fare myki costs $6, while all concession (senior, child and concession) cards cost $3.
