Beers fest volunteer jobs open

GEELONG will host its inaugural Great Australian Beer Festival next week.
And locals have a chance to experience the event from the inside – as a volunteer.
Billed as Victoria’s biggest beer garden, local brewers together with micro- breweries from round the state will take over Geelong Racecourse from 11am to 7pm on February 2 with over 100 beers and ciders to taste.
While the festival will be a celebration of great beer and the craftsmanship, artistry and passion that goes into its creation, live music will also be important in creating the right vibe.
The festival will be set in a carnival atmosphere with live music, roving performers, brewing seminars and a smorgasbord of gourmet foods on offer.
Festival goers will also be able to vote on the day for their favourite brew which will become the inaugural winner of a Great Australian Beer Festival People’s Choice Award.
Free shuttle buses will run to and from the festival every 15 minutres from Geelong and South Geelong railway stations so visitors can leave their cars at home.

Tickets are available online at www.gabfgeelong.com.au .

Organisers are also seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated people keen to help out at their new summer beer-tasting festival.

Organiser Michael Ward says volunteers will participate in a number of activities essential to the running of the festival, from selling merchandise and engaging with visitors to helping service and maintain the site and its exhibitors.

“We welcome and appreciate your participation,” Michael says.
Festival tickets and information about volunteering at the Great Australian Beer Festival are both available online at www.gabfgeelong.com.au.
