World class ultrasound facility underway

There is good news, and there is more good news from Barwon Health’s medical imaging service – Barwon Medical Imaging (BMI).
BMI, which boasted the arrival of not one but two of the world’s best and newest MRI scanners in the Geelong Region earlier this year, has commenced building works for the expansion of its ultrasound services at University Hospital Geelong.
The new ultrasound department, located within the newly completed Baxter Wing of University Hospital Geelong, is architecturally designed for best possible patient comfort and staff experience.
The additional rooms will improve capacity and reduce waiting times for this service which is in high demand across the region.
BMI currently offers bulk billing on all services provided they are Medicare reimbursable.
BMI Operations Manager Jeff Umbers is clear that the aim of the service is to offer equitable access to everyone in the community.
“We want people to know about the comprehensive services that we offer and we certainly want them to know where BMI offer a more affordable alternative for them,” Jeff said.
“We provide world-class services to the Barwon region. We specialise in the application of medical imaging in both diagnosis and treatment to improve outcomes for all.”
BMI provides imaging services across four sites including University Hospital Geelong, Geelong Private Hospital, McKellar Centre and X-ray services at Torquay Community Centre.
For the Northern suburbs, BMI is located at McKellar Centre, Ballarat Road providing comprehensive imaging for the community with X-ray, ultrasound and CT services and there is ease of access with ample on-site parking.
Appointment inquiries to 4215 0300.
