Cyclist hit run arrest made

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following an alleged hit-run collision that claimed a man’s life in Anakie on Mother’s Day.
Cyclist Gordon Ibbs, 77, died from injuries he sustained after he was struck by a car on Geelong-Ballan Road just after 2.30pm on 10 May.
The vehicle involved allegedly failed to stop at the scene.
Police arrested the 26-year-old Whittington man outside Geelong Magistrates’ Court about 9am.
He is currently in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.
