GEELONG Cup Fashions on the Field entrants sparkled as brightly as the clear blue sky on Wednesday with a sea of vibrant dresses, glamorous headpieces and fashionable accessories.
Bright colours, short dresses and smaller headpieces were the theme of this year’s fashions, with pinks, purples and reds popular on the catwalk.
Entrants sashayed down the runway to a cacophony of appreciative wolf-whistles and clapping.
MC Paula Kontelj said a record field of entries demonstrated Geelong women’s dedication to style.
“We have 95 entrants in today’s Fashions on the Field, which is an indication of how beautifully we dress here in Geelong,” Ms Kontelj told onlookers.
“The calibre of entrants this year has been really high.”
Ms Kontelj pointed out vintage clothing and accessories as a Fashions on the Field highlight this year.
“It shows you don’t have to spend lots of money to look this good.”
Women’s winner Jessica Paulke, 19, of Geelong, wore a coral 1920s-inspired dress with short gloves and small, black hat adorned with long feathers.
“I’ve been up since 8.30am getting my hair and makeup done and I just can’t believe I have won,” she said.
Ms Paulke took home a holiday for two to New Zealand.
