OCEAN Grove’s Maddy Griffin has stunned judges to win Geelong’s Miss Country Girl title
The 18-year-old defeated more than 100 other entrants vying for a ticket to Sydney for the national final.
Ms Griffin said she was still in shock over the win, which included over $2000 in prizes.
“I’ve done a little modelling this year but I definitely didn’t think I’d win,” she laughed.
“All the girls are gorgeous, so it was really hard to even think I had the possibility of finishing first.”
Ms Griffin said she was looking forward to starting a fashion course in Melbourne next year after completing secondary schooling at Sacred Heart College in 2010.
She hoped the modelling experience would give her an insight into the industry.
“I’ve been interested in fashion my whole life and always wanted to be a fashion designer, so I’m really excited about starting my fashion design course at RMIT next year.”
Ms Griffin will compete in the national finals in November.
Nicole Mitrov, 13, won Miss Country Girl Junior for Geelong at the contests in Market Square Shopping Centre last Friday.
