THE INDEPENDENT has won a major award for advertising.
Judges awarded the paper Best Advertisement at Community Newspapers Australia Awards 2012 in Melbourne last Friday night.
The Independent won for an advertisement promoting Geelong Botanic Gardens.
The judges said the advertisement featured “clean design, which got the message across to the audience”.
“It worked without trying too hard,” they said.
Managing editor Tony Galpin was thrilled with the award.
“It’s another testament to the quality of our work for advertisers,” Mr Galpin said.
“To win such a prestigious award against some of the country’s leading newspaper brands is a real accomplishment.
“I congratulate all the staff involved in our hard-working advertising and production departments. We appreciate your efforts and creativity.”
