BOOKWORMS will be able to learn more about the region while finding bargains at a sale with a difference in Geelong.
Geelong Heritage Centre will host a pop-up book shop at the city’s National Wool Museum next week, offering up to 80 per cent off more than 3000 books.
The sale, from midday to 4pm Monday to Friday, will be the first time the heritage centre has made its non-archival books available for purchase in a pop-up store.
Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons said the centre was selling off stock before its big move into a new $45 million Geelong Library and Heritage Centre later this year.
“There are thousands of books for sale, so this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for history lovers,” Cr Lyons said.
“You’ll find a range of books on the shelves covering Geelong’s history, World War I, heritage buildings, personalities, sport and the environment.
“Customers will also receive a free show bag with every purchase, which includes a copy of The Bay, Barwon and Beyond: Heritage Places of Geelong.”
Geelong Heritage Centre will relocate to level three in the new shared facility under construction in Lt Malop St.
The new centre will include a state-of-the-art records repository to store and preserve the heritage centre’s archive collection as well as a dedicated back-of-house area for staff and volunteers to undertake collection-based projects.
