Lehpamer on lookout for young talent

Rising Australian stage star Amy Lehpamer will return to her hometown to host Geelong’s premier annual talent quest for young musicians.
Lehpamer recently finished an award-winning role as Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at Sydney’s Royal Theatre.
She is now turning her hand to writing after winning a grant from the ABC and Screen Australia to produce a musical comedy, Donnatelegrams, for broadcast in June.
Lephamer has volunteered her time to MC this year’s Star Search grand final at the end of the month.
The event will feature 14 vocal and instrumental entries vying for a prize pool totalling $4500.
Rotary Club of Highton organises Star Search each year as an opportunity for young performers to gain experience and recognition while competing against their peers.
Tickets for the 38th annual Star Search are available from club members or by emailing malison6@bigpond.net.au.
Star Search begins 7.30pm Friday 30 May in McAulay Hall, Sacred Heart College, Aphrasia St, Newtown.
The Independent is a sponsor of Star Search.
