The future of popular music festival Day on the Green is in doubt following the sale of the annual event’s host farm on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Day on the Green promoter Michael Newton said he was “aware” Spray Farm sold on the weekend but was unsure what it meant for his event.
Mr Newtown said he had not spoken to the Spray Farm’s new owners, who have maintained a low-profile since the sale.
“Event organisers will speak to the new owners in the future,” Mr Newton said.
“We’re hopeful the event will continue to be run at the site.”
Spray Farm sold for just over $7 million on Saturday after an intense bidding war for the popular landmark.
The new owners plan to lease the property’s vineyards to the former owners to supply their Scotchman’s Hill brand.
The property has hosted international performers at A Day on the Green for the past nine years.
The Spray Farm event is part of a series of outdoor concerts staged in wineries around Australia and New Zealand.
Hundreds of music lovers attended this year’s festival at Spray Farm, which included singing sensations Rob Thomas and Vanessa Amorosi.
