AUSTRALIAN alternative rock star Kevin Mitchell will headline a sparkling entertainment line-up at next month’s inaugural Great Australian Beer Festival in Geelong, organisers have announced.
Mitchell found fame with Western Australian rock band Jebediah before stepping out solo as alter-ego Bob Evans and forming four-piece Australian supergroup Basement Birds.
The organisers said Mitchell would be the leading act on an “impressive” bill at Geelong Racecourse.
Other acts to entertain patrons of “Geelong’s biggest alfresco beer garden” would include hot new band The Vaudeville Smash, Australia’s Got Talent semi-finalist Adam Hynes and Byron Bay duo The Firetree.
The organisers said local talent would also feature, with songbird Izzy Losi to present her blend of contemporary, alternative, rock and classical styles.
She had been “compared to the likes of Florence and the Machine, Kate Miller-Heidke, and Regina Spektor”, the organisers said.
Great Australian Beer Festival will run at the racecourse from 11am to 7pm on February 2.
