Free previews of nine productions

TV personality Denise Scott will usher in Geelong’s new theatre season in a special free preview next Thursday.
The award-winning comedian will host the launch, which previews nine productions and feature appearances by performers, directors and producers, along with video and live performances.
Geelong Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) was set to delight theatre lovers next year with some of Australia’s best known performers hitting the stage, general manager Jill Smith said.
“Theatre fans will have the opportunity to discover an inspiring array of theatrical talent coming to the centre in 2018.”
Smith was thrilled to bring Geelong residents a theatre season filled with fresh and contemporary Australian stories as well as new twists on the classics.
“The new works are all plays of our times, exploring contemporary issues with great story telling, and the imagination and energy of live performance,” she said.
“In an increasingly negative and combative world, the great debate that theatre can offer is to be treasured.”
GPAC’s free 2018 Deakin University Theatre Season launch kicks off at 6pm on Thursday in The Playhouse.
Places are limited, so bookings are essential. RSVP to GPAC’s Box Office on 5225 1227 or boxoffice@gpac.org.au by Friday.
Following a priority booking period for existing package buyers, tickets and packages will go on sale to the public at 9am Friday, 1 December.
