Short Cutz to fame set for screening

By JOHN VAN KLAVEREN

A RANGE of Geelong locations feature in a series of short films screening on Channel 31 next month.
The Short Cutz film festival features 15 mainly-local films screened across five 30-minute episodes, canvassing a range of themes and social issues.
The sixth and final episode will hand out awards for the series’ best film, story and direction as well as a surprise award.
Short Cutz organiser Zoe Hollingsworth said Geelong film-makers were involved in all the entries.
“Most of the entries are very real, gritty stories. The film-makers have chosen some serious themes, aimed at making the audience think.
“Although only a few entries broached comedic ideas, there are some touching and humorous moments in the films.”
Ms Hollingsworth devised Short Cutz for local short-film-makers to gain exposure.
“I know that short-film-makers need a way of showing their work because it’s difficult to find a platform for films, so I thought I’d cast a wide net with a minimum of criteria.”
Channel 31 will broadcast Short Cutz at 10pm on Saturday nights from 6 September.
