A two-car crash that injured a couple and their young children forced police to close one of central Geelong’s busiest streets on Wednesday afternoon.
Geelong Ambulance duty station officer Gary Jones said the mother suffered a serious neck injury, while the father and their children, aged three and one, had minor injuries in the smash at around 1pm.
The four were taken to Geelong Hospital for treatment.
The 33-year-old driver of the other vehicle escaped injury, Mr Jones said.
Geelong Police Leading Senior Sergeant Jeff Smith said he believed the father had attempted to turn right from Malop Street into Yarra Street before colliding with the man’s ute.
“The male driver appears to have not seen the oncoming vehicle coming through the intersection,” Ld Snr Sgt Smith said.
Police blocked Malop Street between Yarra and Moorabool streets after the smash. Police, ambulance, CFA and SES units attended the accident.
