They’re retro rock ‘n’ rollers

Rock-and-rollers will converge on Geelong early next month for three days of retro festivities.
Geelong Jukebox Rockers said its Summer Rock Festival would lure patrons from “all over Victoria”.
The festival would begin with “one of Victoria’s top rock and roll band, Fender Benders” on the night of 6 January, the club said.
Adelaide’s The Lincoln would play the following night before the rocking concluded with an “outdoor family festival” on 8 January.
Both bands from the previous nights would play again on the final day, alongside band Jump and Jive and a DJ, the club said.
Elvis impersonator Chad Gates would attend as dancers took to a pair of two outdoor dance floors.
The festival “feel” would continue with ‘50s clothing, memorabilia, food, vinyl records, a rock-and-roll competition, free children’s entertainment, classic cars, hot rods and a show-and-shine, the club said.
“At the end of the day someone will be taking home a 1.2 metre jukebox, which is the main prize of the festival raffle.”
Breakwater’s White Eagle House would host all the activities, the club said.
The first two nights required phone bookings on 0432 503 997 but the final day was “open to all”.
“Bring your own chair and shade for a day on the lawn. Sorry, no dogs and no alcohol,” the club said.
