Geelong Rep saving its best for last

An award-winning Australian social satire will be the final 2015 production for one of Geelong’s top theatre companies.
Geelong Repertory will present Nick Enright’s 1990 play Daylight Saving on Friday 20 November for a 10-show season.
“First performed in 1989, the play has become a modern Australian repertory standard. This will be the first time Geelong Repertory has staged it,” the troupe said.
“Daylight Saving will be directed by Scott Beaton who has directed previous Geelong Repertory productions including Over the Moon and Arsenic and Old Lace.”
“Highly accomplished” Rep regulars Lauren Crute and Steven Georgiadis would play the lead roles of Felicity and Tom, the company said.
Set in New South Wales’ Pittwater, the characters are a successful couple whose relationship is under pressure from their hectic lifestyle.
Tom flies to Los Angeles on business, forgetting their anniversary.
Feeling forgotten as she prepares to turn the clocks back for the end of daylight saving, Felicity receives a surprise phone call from an old flame.
The cast also includes Cameron Allen as Josh, Cassie Webster as Stephanie, Chris Young as Jason and Christine Davey as Bunty.
Geelong Repertory will stage Daylight Saving at Geelong West’s Woodbin Theatre until 5 December. Tickets are available from Geelong Performing Arts Centre.
