Anyone yet to work out that Christmas is nigh needs only Barry Morgan for a reminder.
The part-organ salesman, part-organ player and part-comedian has invited Geelong to have itself a Barry Little Christmas on Friday night, 20 November.
The colourful creation of Stephen Teakle, Morgan has packed up his Toyota Crown and is heading to Drysdale’s Potato Shed to share the Christmas spirit – and his organ.
Morgan is the owner and proprietor of an allegedly “world famous” World of Organs Super Store in Adelaide’s “beautiful” Sunnyside Mall.
When not busy giving the public the “best organ deals in town”, fans could find him performing live and sharing the joy of his instrument organ, Morgan said.
He was also searching far and wide “for that special friend”.
“Maybe this is the night I get a kiss or two under the mistletoe, who knows? Santa says everyone gets lucky at Christmas,” said the cross between Bob Downe and Dennis Lillee.
Morgan plays a 1981 Hammond Aurora Classic, although he will swap his standard organist regalia of safari suit, cravat, white shoes and socks for some yuletide attire for the Potato Shed show.
Morgan’s creator was a one-time wool classing student at Geelong’s Gordon Institute of TAFE.
The entertainer has built a wild, wacky and wonderful world around Morgan and his organ, extracting its golden-syrup sounds.
Slipping back into character, Morgan said his Drysdale audiences would be swept away by his “Zither Arpeggiator … Fascinating Fingers and celebrated One Finger Method”.
Morgan said that with one finger on the pulse – and the other on his organ – he was acutely aware how audiences were patiently waiting to rediscover the joy of his keyboard.
Promoters said the “hilarious show” would offer a licensed bar with patrons invited to bring along their own supper plates.
Morgan’s show begins at 8pm, with tickets available from City of Greater Geelong customer service centres.
