Search and rescue crews found a body in the You Yangs Regional Park Tuesday morning, following the disappearance of a mountain-bike rider the night before.
Police received reports the 55-year-old Geelong West man was missing at 11pm Monday after he failed to return home from a bike ride.
They immediately deployed to the regional park and located the missing man’s Holden ute in Stockyard carpark.
The man, an experienced mountain-bike rider had left for a day of riding sometime between 8am and 12pm.
He had packed a lunch and from all accounts, was well prepared. A spare key, which police used to open his car revealed he had not returned for lunch.
The search continued for several hours with the assistance of the Air Wing and SES until crews found man’s body at about 4.15am.
Police were not treating the death as suspicious and will prepare a report for the coroner.
