The GREAT Ocean Road is starring in three short films at Melbourne’s Federation Square to attract tourists, according to South Barwon MP Andrew Katos.
He said the “video vignettes” aimed to attract “high-yielding travellers” from around Australia and overseas.
The videos, with road trip and ocean and forest “adventure” themes, would screen four times daily in Federation Square throughout July, he said.
Geelong Otway Tourism’s Roger Grant welcomed the marketing boost during the region’s “shoulder season” for tourists.
“Even during the quieter season people are looking for a compelling destination to take a short break.
“Particularly with an increasing number of Australians heading overseas for holidays, we want people to stop and have a look (at the campaign). They might realise some holiday plans may be better suited closer to home.”
