Barely months after the escalators to Westfield Geelong’s food court were out of action for weeks, one of the new you beaut replacements bit the dust.
Patrons back then spent several weeks tramping up and down the temporary stairs and this week had to foot it again.
And which of the two escalators was it that gave up the ghost? You guessed it, the up escalator.

There are more changes in the wind for long-standing Geelong retailer Target which will close its local head office in a year or so and move lock stock and barrel to Melbourne’s west, somewhere.
But the changes are happening behind the scenes too, with the troubled discount chain, part of the Wesfarmers stable, moving its media buying agency.
Target is following sister brand Coles in shifting its media spend to a new agency after 13 years.
It probably means other Wesfarmers brands including K-Mart and Bunnings Warehouse will also make the move.
Head of the losing agency, IPG Mediabrands, Danny Bass said the news had made it a tough week for the business.
