Shooter hoax
Fears of a shooter have forced Belmont High School to activate its safety plan.
Police rushed to the school on Thursday morning before declaring the incident a hoax, which remained under investation when the Indy went to press later in the day.
Table tops
More than 100 million TV viewers in over 80 countries will tune into Geelong when it hosts an international table tennis event in July, City Hall has announced.
Up to 200 athletes from more than 20 countries would compete at the Australian Open of Table Tennis after Geelong secured the hosting rights for the next three years, City Hall said.
Storages decline
The region’s water storages have continued declining despite last week delivering the heaviest rain of the year so far, according to official figures.
Barwon Water reported on Wednesday that the storages were at 51.1 per cent capacity after losing 573 million litres despite recording 49mm of rain for the week.

Work has begun on building a $5.5 million early learning centre at Highton, City Hall has announced.
Councillors and state MPs helped turn the first sod at Bellaire Primary School on Tuesday as contractors prepared to begin construction of the facility, including a kindergarten for 66 children.

An “adventurethon” at Anglesea was a “huge hit” last Sunday despite competitors enduring gale-force wind and rain, according to organisers.
Adventurethon Demolish Anglesea was the event’s “most rewarding weekend in ages” for the competitors who ran, kayaked and mountain-biked through the “torrential weather”, the organisers said.
