Internship winners set to experience stages of success

Erin Pearson
TWO aspiring Geelong event managers will rub shoulders with the industry’s elite after winning year-long internships.
Kelly McDonnell, 22 and Erin Marshall, 21, heard the exciting news this week after an anxious three-month wait.
Ms Marshall was “so excited” to win after many close friends missed out on internships.
“I’m really hoping to get as much out of it as I can and work my way toward employment in an agency like Frontier Touring,” she said.
“Mum’s pretty impressed with the news, too.”
Ms Marshall said she applied for the program after seeing the success her boss had from participating.
Working with rock stars and musicians in the event management industry was a long-held dream, she said.
“I’ve never been good at playing an instrument and I’m a bad singer so being able to help the people who do it well is great – it makes me feel quite proud.”
Ms Marshall said she now faced the difficult choice of nominating an industry idol to work alongside.
“There are so many to choose from,” she said.
Ms Marshall and Ms O’Donnell received their internships as part of a Geelong FreeZaCentral progam to launch careers in the music industry.
