Lorne swingbridge out for repairs

LORNE’S signature swing bridge has been removed for repairs to its tower foundations, and the ageing deck and handrails.

The bridge closure follows a engineering report identifying the need for running repairs.

An inspection of the foundations has now been carried out and it has been determined that work must take place to ensure the bridge is safe and secured for the future.

The bridge is loved, used and valued by the local Lorne community and visitors alike, says the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee.

Funding for the restoration includes $220,000 from the State Government Regional Growth Fund, $75,000 from the Surf Coast Shire and $70,000 from the GORCC.
