An absence of toilets at one of the Great Ocean Road’s major tourist attractions has been raised in federal parliament as justification for a funding takeover.
Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson cited the Eastern View archway and recent closures of the iconic road for repairs in her call for the Turnbull Government to “directly manage” the $45 million Tourism Demand Driver Infrastructure Program.
The program funded state and territory tourism projects, but Victoria had yet to spend any of the money on the ocean road, Ms Henderson said.
“I think the time is ripe for our government to take over this funding,” Ms Henderson said.
