Reading cinema in systems ’first’

By JOHN VAN KLAVEREN

THE curtains will open on Australian cinematic first when Reading Waurn Ponds unveils a state-of-the-art digital projection and sound system.
Reading manager Dave Lovell said the new systems would give audiences a better sound experience and an enhanced digital resolution on a larger screen.
Mr Lovell said Reading chose the Waurn Ponds cinema for the first national installation of the system because of its size and relative newness.
“Geelong is starting to look toward a more technology-driven future as we change our outlook from more traditional industries,” Mr Lovell said.
“This kind of development is all part of that local technological future. It’s a bit of a coup for Geelong.”
The new system, Titan XC incorporates Dolby Atmos, is promoted as delivering audiences “a more-natural and realistic sound-field with a lifelike sensory experience” and a “revolution in movie viewing”.
Mr Lovell said Reading would launch the systems on 2 November.
