Geelong midfielder Steve Johnson was still on crutches this morning and did not take part in the Cats training session.
Coach Chris Scott said Johnson had not yet been ruled out, but it appears Stevie J is likely to miss the blockbuster against Hawthorn on Saturday night at the MCG.
Johnson has been advised by Geelong medical staff to keep off the right foot, where he is experiencing “soreness”.
Scott said Johnson had been cleared of a stress fracture in the foot and again emphasised the club would be “very conservative” with their X-factor star.
“The plan was always to keep him off his foot for as long as possible, hence the crutches, he can walk around fine.
“They just think it’ll help him more not to be weight-bearing so we won’t really know for sure until he does weight-bear.”
On the upside, both Jimmy Bartel and Jordan Murdoch are expected to be available.
