FINALLY FRIDAY: Craig’s roaring 40 set to blow away Geelong

By CHERIE DONNELLAN

EIGHTEEN-year-old singing sensation Harrison Craig laughed recalling how judges on Channel 9’s The Voice thought he was 40 when he sang Josh Groban’s Broken Vow during a “blind audition”.
“They told me after my audition they thought I was 40 because they couldn’t see who I was, they could just hear a very mature-toned voice,” Craig chuckled.
He’s had more reasons to laugh since taking out the hit television show’s 2013 competition – winning $100,000 prize money and a Universal Music recording contract.
But Craig confessed to being so “flat out” ever since that he was unable to “take it all in”.
Instead he focused on “practising a lot” ahead of his concert at Geelong’s Costa Hall in November as part of a 24-date tour.
Craig wanted his stage performance to be “as perfect as can be”, fitting rehearsals in around his Australia-wide travels, greeting screaming fans at Westfield shopping centres and signing autographs.
Craig, who hails from Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, said he had spent time in Geelong.
He was looking forward to performing for the city’s “real supportive community”.
“It’ll be a high-quality show and a true Harrison Craig performance.”
Craig was particularly excited about performing his rendition of The Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody.
“When I first performed it I was so proud – it’s such a huge piece and to get such praise from Seal and the public as well was amazing.”
